Dog Abuse Statistics
- 65% of Abused Animals Are Dogs
- Animal cruelty facts report that dogs are the most common victims of this cruelty. Moreover, this doesn’t refer to dogs in general but specific breeds.
- Statistics show that one in four abused dogs is a Pit Bull. Some countries have banned this breed to prevent animal cruelty.
- They’ve also banned this breed, intending to prevent Pit Bull attacks on people.
Cat Abuse Statistics
- Cats are estimated to be the second most common victim of animal cruelty after dogs.
- More than 19,000 cats are abused in U.S. laboratories every year—in addition to the tens of thousands who are killed and sold to schools for cruel and crude classroom dissections.
Rabbit Abuse Statistics
- Rabbits are frequent victims of animal experimenters because they are mild-tempered and easy to handle, confine, and breed—more than 161,000 of them are abused in U.S. laboratories every year.
- Despite the availability of more modern, humane, and effective alternatives, rabbits are still tormented in the notorious Draize eye irritancy test, in which substances such as personal care products, household cleaning products, and their ingredients are applied to their eyes often causing redness, swelling, discharge, ulceration, hemorrhaging, cloudiness, or blindness.
